                        HARPURHEY

Many of the Harpurhey men & women who served in both great wars are commemorated in the local cemeteries and some of the local churches in the area.  The two nearest cemeteries are Manchester Central cemetery, locally know as Harpurhey cemetery and Philips park cemetery. Which is about two miles down the road from Harpurhey. Some of the photos have been sent in by our forum members others have been taken by my self.
If you would like a copy of any of the photos on this page, please ask on our

Manchester & Salford family history forum.  We have tried to locate as many graves relating to service personnel  either buried or inscribed on graves in the Manchester Central cemetery  AKA Hapurhey cemetery. We have put them on a PDF for you to download.

Since this page was created this file has been updated on 23rd April 2012 and supersedes the previous  file. The file now contains many, many more service men & women's burial records.  This will be updated as we find new graves and information on the people buried in any new grave found.

If you are planning a trip to the cemetery, here is the cemetery plot location layout. It might help you find any graves your looking for. It should only be used as guide and as many graves there have either been vandalised/damaged or have been removed and some laid face down. A lot of work has been carried out by Manchester city council to the site, as they have on many of there other cemeteries.
